1. SET AGENDA: As Submitted.
2. CONSENT AGENDA:
2.01. Approval of March Minutes
3. GENERAL BUSINESS
3.01. Senior Newsletter: Betty Gice shared that on average 4-5 people are added to the new 2016 mailing list each month. Surprisingly, many of them are people who are new to receiving the newsletter and were not on any previous mailing lists. Betty reported that there are 92 people on the current monthly mailing list, compared to 300 people that were listed before.
4.01. Congregate Dining: Recreation Services Coordinator Dirks reported that a consistent catering schedule has been held since May, and hopefully will continue as such. The average meals served per day in March was 15, April was 17, and May was 17. Overall, the program is doing well.
4.02. Senior Program Review: Recreation Services Coordinator Dirks shared a list of senior programs that occurred since the last meeting and shared what is planned to occur in the next few months. Dirks asked for input on the idea of going to a winery in September and possibly starting a yoga class at the senior center; both ideas went over well. Dirks asked the commission for future program ideas and Mike Bauer suggested a Tai Chi exercise class at the senior center. Les Smith suggested a low impact exercise class be taught by a Northern Community Chiropractic employee.
4.03. Rogers-Hassan Senior Friendship Group Update: In Linda Sullivan’s absence, Recreations Services Coordinator Dirks reported the upcoming events and dates for the farmer’s market booth, fall craft and bake sale, Rogers Revue, and Rockin Rogers parade.
4.04. Senior Center Task Force: Recreation Services Coordinator Dirks reported that the task force presented at the May 10th City Council meeting and that the proposal is sitting on the Senior Center front desk for the public to view. Mike Bauer explained that the next step in the process is budget planning. Dave Nei commented that there aren’t any large Main Street redevelopment plans at the moment that would relocate the seniors from the current senior center.
