2.01. Approval of June Minutes
3. GENERAL BUSINESS
3.01. Senior Newsletter: Betty Gice reported that 112 people are currently on the monthly mailing list, compared to 300 people that were listed prior to the 2016 renewal process.
4.01. Congregate Dining: Recreation Services Coordinator Dirks reported the average meals served per day since the last meeting. June averaged 16 meals, July was 12, and August was 16. Dirks asked for opinions on whether to cancel the meals while out of the office Oct. 25-27. The group consensus was to continue the meals and coordinate assistance to make reservations, pick up meals, transfer the money safe, etc.
4.02. Senior Program Review: Recreation Services Coordinator Dirks shared a list of senior programs that occurred since the last meeting and shared what is planned to occur in the next few months. Dirks asked the commission for future program ideas and Pat Johnson suggested a salsa making contest. Dave Nei suggested a mystery trip, a visit to the Christmas village, and a vo tech culinary class. Terri Hawkins suggested a visit to the Eastman Nature Center to take a tram ride.
4.03. Rogers-Hassan Senior Friendship Group Update: Pat Johnson shared that the seniors parade float won 2nd place at Rockin Rogers and received a $75 check prize. She suggested a larger trailer be used next year. Les Smith mentioned the bi-monthly Bingo time may change in the near future. Linda Sullivan reported on the farmer’s market booth and shared that the craft & bake sale is on track for Oct. 29 and that Betty Gice has been working on two grant applications.
