Johannes Allert

Johannes Allert received his Masters from Norwich University (Vermont) and is an Adjunct Professor for Rogers State University. Additionally, he is also a researcher, and published author of several magazine articles related to Minnesota History that have appeared in Minnesota History and Ramsey History. Occasionally, he has made appearances on TPT’s Almanac ‘Hidden History’ and QCTV Cable.

His talk on Sunday, November 11th is titled Minnesota’s “Golden Legions” – remembers some of the men and women of the early 20th Century who served and sacrificed during (and after) The Great War.

Presentation topics:

  • How American society honored the dead in a variety of ways -- From numismatics, individual gravesites and personal dedications,
  • City and County memorials,
  • The state’s first National Cemetery dedicated in 1939
  • Explains how individuals and society expressed their grief while paying tribute the “Lost Generation”
  • It is through memorials that society honors the fallen and reconnects with its’ past
