Parks and Recreation Summer Internship

Under the supervision of the Recreation and Facilities Coordinator, this position is responsible for supervising summer recreational activities, facility scheduling, administrative duties, and developing new recreational offerings for the City of Rogers. This position will also provide excellent customer services to all city clients and the public. This is a 12 week paid internship with flexible start and end dates from May to August. The rate of $16.53/hr - $21.77 an hour will be paid to the selected candidate. The chosen candidate must be available for the entire time frame.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Supervises personnel and summer recreational activities for the City of Rogers Recreation Department which includes but not limited to Playgrounds, Farmer’s Market, Special Events, Adult Softball, Learn to Skate, and Entertainment in the Park.

  • Manage logistics to a community wide survey.

  • Assist with donations and sponsorship for city recreation programs.

  • Develops good relationships with youth athletic association members, local community members, and District #728 staff.

  • Assist with facility scheduling and data entry.

  • Assist with planning new innovative ideas and proposals for recreational programs.

  • Assist in other special projects as seen fit by Recreation Coordinator.

  • Perform regular day-to-day administrative activities.

  • Follows up on user's concerns to assure that difficulties are kept to a minimum.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled as undergraduate in Recreation, Park, and Leisure Studies or related field needing to fulfill internship requirements for graduation.

  • Previous experience in recreation programming, computer experience, event management, good oral and written communication skills, Class D Minnesota Drivers License.
